“If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
1 Corinthians 12:26
At its heart, intercession is asking prayers of God, for a person, a place, or a particular situation. Although often for others, intercession can include praying for one’s own needs too. Each day, at the Eucharist, we offer ‘the Prayers of the People’, and there are other personal ways you can offer your prayers at Saint Thomas Church outlined below.
If you have any urgent pastoral needs, please call our Pastoral Care Line at 917-674-1899, and you will be forwarded to a place where you can leave a message for a priest.
Shrine Prayers
On Mondays through Saturdays at 12pm we offer prayers and intercessions at the shrine of Our Lady of Fifth Avenue. These prayers precede the 12:10pm Eucharist and include the traditional recitation of the Angelus, prayers from the Diocesan and Anglican Cycle of Prayer for Dioceses around the world, and intercessions left either in the church or by filling out the form below.
The list of intercessions for Shrine Prayers grows over the week as more prayers are added, so a prayer sent in over the weekend will be prayed for everyday from Monday to Saturday. The list starts again every Monday.
You can also request that a candle lit at the shrine. Suggested minimum donations: 8-days $25, 1-day $5.
