Good Friday

Good Friday

Almighty God, we beseech thee graciously to behold this thy family, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given into the hands of sinners, and to suffer death upon the cross; who now liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Three Hours’ Devotion will begin at 12pm. It will automatically play in the above window.

We are delighted that, this year,  the Seven Last Words from the Cross will be preached by the Most Rev. John O’Hara. The theme for Bishop O’Hara’s Good Friday Meditations will be “Don’t be afraid of anything. Christ is Victor!” (Fr. Benedict Groeschel CFR).

Bishop O’Hara is Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of New York, working with Cardinal Dolan. An old friend of our parish, he was very close to Fr. John Andrew – XI Rector. He is an accomplished musician, a wonderful preacher, and a member of the Knights of Malta. Living on Staten Island, he is very involved in the lives of local communities.
