Jeremy Taylor (1613-1667) is one of the key figures of the Anglican Spiritual Tradition, whose twin works Holy Living and Holy Dying are among the greatest works of spiritual writing in the English language. Taylor lived through the turbulent years of the English Civil Ward, and remained faithful to the Book of Common Prayer and the ordering of the Church by bishops even when these became illegal under the Commonwealth. He was also a great moral theologian, with much to teach us about resolving practical moral questions in our own day.
Canon Robin Ward has been the Principal of St Stephen’s House since 2006. St Stephen’s House is an Anglican Theological foundation with an affiliation to Oxford University. His initial theological studies were in patristics, the study of early Church history and theology. Since then he has taught moral theology (Christian ethics), ecclesiology (the doctrine of the Church), and sacramental theology. He is a member of the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Oxford.
