The Sunday Recital Series is free and open to the public. Usually starting at approximately 5:15pm, it follows the 4pm service on most Sundays during the academic term. The use of cameras and recording devices is strictly prohibited during the performance.

About the Artist

A North Carolina native, David holds degrees in organ performance from East Carolina and Yale Universities. He is proud to count Colin Andrews, Janette Fishell, Martin Jean and Thomas Murray as his primary teachers and has studied in extended residencies with Ludger Lohmann and Dame Gillian Weir. He has given solo recitals in many of the world’s most well-known churches including Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral & Westminster Cathedral (London), The Cathedral of St. John the Divine & St. Paul’s Chapel of Trinity Wall St. (New York City), The National Cathedral (Washington D.C.), and many others.

Primarily dedicated to church music, David serves as organist & choirmaster at Christ Church, Raleigh, N.C., where he oversees a chorister program as well as semi-professional and fully professional adult choirs. He has conducted choral residencies at Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral (London), St. Patrick’s Cathedral (Dublin), and Gloucester Cathedral, as well as services at Notre Dame (Paris), Ely Cathedral, St. George’s (Windsor), and St. Thomas 5th Ave. (New York). The Christ Church Choristers & Lay Clerks can be heard on most streaming platforms via their
album, “To Be A Light,” which was recorded with the BBC affiliated Floating Earth Corporation at
Jesus College, Cambridge.

David has founded multiple fully professional vocal ensembles, most notably The Raleigh Bach Soloists who, with the NC Baroque Orchestra, have given historically informed performances of the complete Christmas and Easter Oratorios of J.S. Bach, nine of his cantatas, three of the Six Motets, Handel’s Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day, and, of course, the Messiah. A composer of choral music, David is published by Paraclete Press as well as his own label, The Ecclesial Press.
