“Lift Every Voice: Reflections on the Beloved Community”

Saint Thomas is observing Black History Month through a project organized around the idea of the Beloved Community, a phrase Martin Luther King, Jr. emphasized in an iconic speech delivered in 1956. In that speech, King envisions “a beloved community . . . where men will live together as brothers.”

Today, from 10 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. there will be a discussion group where we will share reflections on the idea of the Beloved Community  submitted by the Saint Thomas Community. We will engage in an open and heartfelt discussion about this beautiful idea as it relates to our parish.

I invite you to reflect on this theme and to send in your reflection on how Saint Thomas Church is a Beloved Community to by February 29.

As a church we can embrace this beautiful idea of Beloved Community, about which Dr. Martin Luther King had spoken powerfully and eloquently.
