Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday
Almighty and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou hast made and dost forgive the sins of all those who are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

All are welcome to come through the Fifth Avenue doors throughout the day to have ashes imposed. While here, you may choose to stay for awhile, sitting in one of the pews.
Ashes are imposed as part of the 8am, 12:10pm and 5:30pm liturgies, and also between the services throughout the day. The Fifth Avenue doors will open by 7:30am for those who wish to attend the 8am Liturgy. Please note that the first imposition of ashes for the day will occur during the 8am service. Then, ashes will be imposed after the service (beginning at approximately 8:40am) near the high altar in the center aisle of the church’s nave. Ashes are imposed throughout the morning until we near the 12:10pm service, and then throughout the afternoon between the end of the 12:10pm and the beginning of the 5:30pm liturgies. The last opportunity to receive ashes is during the 5:30pm service.
