The Fifth Sunday After The Epiphany

The Fifth Sunday After The Epiphany

Set us free, O God, from the bondage of our sins, and give us,we beseech thee, the liberty of that abundant life which thou hast manifested to us in thy Son our Savior Jesus Christ; who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Above: How is it that we can have so many images in stone, glass and wood at Saint Thomas Church, even as we are commanded to make no graven images? Fr Mead explains in this evening’s sermon, the third sermon in the Commandments as Good News series.

About Festal Evensong: Based on the services held daily in the medieval Church, Choral Evensong as arranged in the Book of Common Prayer of the Anglican Church has been sung regularly since the Sixteenth Century. Many people who are new to worship at Saint Thomas prefer to come to Choral Evensong because it is relatively contemplative. The service includes readings (just as would occur at Evening Prayer) and prayers led by a priest. An anthem as well as a setting of the Magnificat and the Nunc dimittis are sung by the choir. Read more about Choral Evensong here, or view the Choral Evensong Service Card posted to the bottom of this page, where links to the webcast are posted during and after the service.

‚ñ∫There is no Mass following Choral Evensong on Sundays. If you would like to make your Holy Communion for the week, consider attending one of the morning Eucharists, or else at any of the other sixteen masses at Saint Thomas later this week.

‚ñ∫The Rector speaks about Lenten discipline in his weekly audio message.

‚ñ∫We are in the midst of the Candlemas Campaign of the 2013 Every Member Canvass. For those who have not yet pledged to the 2013 EMC and would like to be recognized as active supporters of Saint Thomas Church and Choir School, the Candlemas Campaign offers a chance to do just that. Feel free to email Ann Hall Kaplan if you have any questions. Thank you to everyone who has already pledged, and thank you for considering making one if you haven’t yet. You may pledge online here.
