St. Thomas Arms

Stained Glass
Restoration Project
Begins

Saint Thomas Church has begun a huge, multiyear project to restore its 33 magnificent stained glass windows. Over the course of the next four years, each window in turn will be removed and taken to one of our chosen 12 stained glass artisan studios for complete restoration. The Project, whose total cost is currently estimated at a minimum of $15 million, is under the supervision of a committee chaired by Bill Wright, our Senior Warden. The committee has selected Julie Sloan, one of the world’s leading experts on stained glass conservation, to act as Consultant. [See “ Q & A Session with the Project Consultant, Julie Sloan”] In Bill Wright’s words; “Thanks largely to the talent and foresight of our predecessors Saint Thomas Church, with its renowned choir and glorious architecture, is a world class institution in every respect. We who hold it in trust now have a duty to pass on what we received in an even better condition. A complex project like this presents huge challenges, but I’m fully confident that our staff, advisors, parishioners and benefactors can meet them.”
